RECITAL
Every year, ASD enjoys producing a professional Dance Recital for our students. It is rewarding for the dancers to display their talents and share their enthusiasm with the audience. The recital offers our students a well directed performance that allows them to present to their families and friends the results of a year’s hard work, dedication, and progress. Although performance opportunities can help prepare some students for a possible career in dance, they also contribute to children’s success in non-dance activities. That onstage experience can result in better in-school presentations, improved social skills, and strong interview skills for future college or job opportunities. The rehearsal process is a tremendous learning experience as well. It helps the children develop retention skills, and by working with their classmates on a group performance, they learn the positive aspects of working as a team to create the best end result. Rehearsal and recital dates are handed out well in advance. This enables everyone to make arrangements regarding time off work, family vacations, and other activities. Participating in the recital is a privilege and should be taken seriously regardless of the level or age of the student. Students that participate in the recital must have a costume for their dance performance. The recital costume cost is kept as reasonable as possible while providing everything that the dancer will need for the performance.

One Costume & Recital Fee ~~ $100 Due November 1st

Video and Photography
Parents or guardians may videotape or photograph their children at the dress rehearsal. Due to the large number of cameras, no electrical outlets will be available, so be sure your batteries are fully charged. Please note: no video or flash photography will be allowed in the auditorium during recital. This is dangerous and distracting for the performers and inconsiderate to the other audience members. Should a guest not choose to follow this rule that audience member will be asked to leave. A professional video of the recital will be available for your purchase.
Students dancing in recital will be expected to wear makeup during the performance. This is suggested due to the stage lighting. Example: Red lipstick, blush, eye shadow, and mascara
Gather all costumes, accessories, shoes, & makeup several days in advance so you’ll know if something is missing or wrong.
NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEO CAMERAS WILL BE ALLOWED IN AUDITORIUM DURING THE RECITAL. Please inform family and friends who will be attending. No eating, drinking or smoking is allowed in the auditorium or dressing rooms. Backstage: Family members and friends don’t belong backstage or in the dressing rooms during rehearsals or the recital. The same applies during intermission and after the show. There is a lot of backstage activity in a limited space, and dressing rooms are a private area. Please remind your family and guests to be respectful of these areas. Please remain seated for the entire performance; it is not proper to leave the theatre unless it is an emergency.
Dress Rehearsal
Saturday, May 16th, 2026
Graham Memorial Auditorium
628 3rd ST Graham, TX
The dress rehearsal allows the students to become familiar with the auditorium surrounding and feel comfortable with their performance, costume(s), and being onstage. Lighting, music cues, set changes, and all other logistics for an organized and professional performance are rehearsed so that the students make the best impression possible. If your dancer is participating in the Recital it is mandatory to attend the dress rehearsal in costume. We will run an organized and timely dress rehearsal: your help with the process will guarantee a professional production. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to curtain. Students may arrive in their first performance costume or may change in the dressing room. Dress rehearsal drop-off and pickup: Please no siblings who do not dance or males are allowed in dressing rooms (for obvious reasons). Parents or guardians must remain in the auditorium until their children have been dismissed. A run through of the finale will take place at dress rehearsal as the first performance. Students will be dismissed from rehearsal once they have completed all of their routines
